OUR HISTORY
At the June 22, 2004 EDC Board Meeting, the existing Board recommended and approved a change in the make up of the Board, in effect voting themselves off the Board and voting to the Board the following: Cabarrus County Manager, Concord City Manager, Kannapolis City Manager, Town of Harrisburg Manager, CEO of the Cabarrus Regional Chamber of Commerce, Chairman of the Board of Cabarrus Regional Chamber of Commerce and five at-large members decided by the aforementioned members. At subsequent meetings the new Board members increased from five to seven the number of at-large members, added the CEO of the Cabarrus County Convention and Visitor’s Bureau, removed the CEO of the Cabarrus Regional Chamber (because of his role as CEO of the EDC), and change the Chamber’s representative from Chairman to a member of the Chamber’s Executive Committee.
At the August 3, 2004 EDC Board of Directors Meeting a presentation was made regarding the creation of “The Cabarrus Regional Partnership: An Economic Development Enterprise.” The presentation was unanimously adopted by the Board and CEO John Cox was directed to implement the plan immediately, and begin overseeing the day-to-day operations of the EDC.
