Cabarrus County Sees Strong Growth in Visitor Spending, Reaching $679.41 Million in 2024

Tourism in Cabarrus County continues to be a major driver of economic growth. According to new data from Visit North Carolina, visitors to and within Cabarrus County spent $679.41 million in 2024, marking an 8.7% increase over the previous year.

“From economic impact to enhanced quality of life, tourism benefits our community in a number of ways and we’re thrilled to see its continued growth in Cabarrus,” said Cabarrus County Convention & Visitors Bureau President and CEO Donna Carpenter. “We greatly appreciate our visitors, hospitality partners and all who contribute to our destination’s thriving tourism economy.”

This growth places Cabarrus County with the 11th highest visitor spending growth rate among North Carolina’s 100 counties, reflecting the strength of our local tourism assets and partnerships.

“Tourism is vital in Cabarrus County, not just for those who visit but for those of us who live here as well,” said Steve Steinbacher, Cabarrus County CVB Board of Directors chair and owner of Cabarrus Brewing Company. “There’s a strong sense of pride that comes from seeing so many people want to visit and take part in all the experiences our area has to offer.”

2024 Cabarrus County Tourism Impact Highlights:

  • The travel and tourism industry directly employs more than 5,014 people in Cabarrus County
  • Total payroll generated by the tourism industry in Cabarrus County was $180.22 million
  • State and local tax revenues totaled $43.94 million from travel to Cabarrus County
  • Taxes generated by visitor spending represent a tax savings of $178.24 per resident
  • Cabarrus County ranks 13th in total visitor spending among North Carolina’s 100 counties
