The Town of Harrisburg Is Recognized as the Healthiest Employer in North Carolina

Harrisburg, N.C. – The Town of Harrisburg has been honored as the 2025 Healthiest Employer in North Carolina, a nationally recognized awards program that celebrates organizations committed to supporting employee well-being through innovative benefits and health initiatives.

This significant achievement is a testament to the Town’s commitment to its staff and the leadership of the Town Council in supporting a comprehensive benefits package that empowers employee well-being. This is a standout initiative in the Flexible Employer Contribution program. The FEC program is a unique and innovative approach to employee benefits, not offered by any other municipality in North Carolina.

Through this program, the Town contributes a percentage of each employee’s salary, which can be applied toward a range of personalized benefit options. Some of the benefits available through this program include:

• Financial and Career Support: 457 retirement savings, student loan repayment, college scholarships for dependents, and financial counseling.
• Family and Lifestyle Benefits: Childcare expenses, elder care, adoption or surrogacy support, fertility treatments, and home healthcare.
• Wellness and Personal Care: Therapy and counseling, nutritional counseling, massage therapy, fitness trackers, personal trainers, and exercise equipment.
• Lifestyle and Leisure: Pet care, dining, entertainment tickets, travel expenses, and convenience options such as meal prep, gardening, and housekeeping.
• Healthcare Assistance: Credits toward FSA, medical premiums for dependents, and worksite solution benefits.

Beyond the FEC benefit, the Town of Harrisburg offers a 3P Wellness Program, short for Personal Pursuit of Points, which actively encourages staff to engage in physical activity, preventive care, and mental and emotional well-being throughout the year.

All honorees completed the annual Healthiest Employers assessment, which uses a proprietary 1-100 scoring rubric. The survey evaluates six key areas of organizational health and wellness, including strategy, culture, and outcomes.
