#MadeinCabarrus: Innovative Medical Device Coatings

Did you know there is a company in Cabarrus County that makes coatings to reduce potential trauma during invasive medical procedures?

While many of us may not think about these kinds of products, medical providers depend on Hydromer, Inc. to produce innovative hydrophilic coatings so that they can safely perform operations on patients’ cardiovascular, circulatory, neurological, urological, and vascular systems. Hydromer’s hydrophilic medical device coatings are applied to devices used for stents, shunts, pacemaker leads, implants, and many more.

Hydromer manufacturers medical device coatings, industrial coatings, hydrogels, and hand sanitizer solutions at their facility in Concord, North Carolina. Their products are used by various markets, including medical/healthcare, biotechnology, animal health, aviation/aerospace, automotive, machinery, architectural, cosmetics, and many others. Hydromer also became actively engaged in fighting the COVID-19 outbreak by manufacturing anti-fog coatings for PPE, anti-microbial hydrophilic coatings for medical devices, and hand sanitizers.

Hydromer, Inc. was established in Branchburg, New Jersey in 1981 and grew to become a leading developer of polymer-based products for numerous industries. In 2019, the company relocated its headquarters to Concord, North Carolina because of the area’s growing talent hub, competitive business climate, tax rate, and its well-established international business hub.
