Two Companies Announce Plans to Expand to Cabarrus County

Reynolds Group Holdings and General Motors have both announced plans to expand in Cabarrus County in 2020. Both facilities will be located off of I-85 and provide quick access to their partners throughout the region.

Reynolds Group Holdings

Reynolds Group Holdings has leased a 360,000-square-foot flex building, Afton Ridge I, in the Afton Ridge Business Park in Kannapolis, North Carolina. The consumer products and packaging company will be located across the street from the distribution centers for Gordon Food Service and S.P. Richards Co., and right next door to the Afton Ridge Shopping Center. This is an ideal location for companies like Reynolds, not only because of its accessibility to I-85 and the Charlotte market, but also because of the quality of life that this area offers.

General Motors

In January, General Motors announced plans to open a new technical center focused on performance and racing capabilities in Concord, NC. Expected to open by mid-2020, the technical center will allow GM to expand and enhance its support for Chevrolet NASCAR race teams as well as various GM racing teams. The technical center will be housed in a 75,000-square-foot facility off of I-85 and less than 10 minutes from Charlotte Motor Speedway. It will be close to a number of key racing partners, teams and suppliers, which will allow for improved collaboration and access to the industry’s best talent.
